I’m guessing that’s the first time that word has ever been used from that podium in a national address from the White House...
What a disgrace.

It is insane ho w he calls other people liars! This is like watching an over the top movie dictator. I just don’t understand how people support him, the kind of mental problems they must have!

I love seeing a man who is the embodiment of the 7 deadly sins at a “prayer breakfast” (WTH is that?) and the brainwashed fundies still lap up every word as if life depends on it. The mental gymnastics and delusion in the base are hilarious.
What are the odds that, given he wins in November, he aims for more terms, via any means possible?

Ah interesting times. The scary part is how many people buy this crap. Ive got a b.i.l. whose half Lebanese that just loves Trump.
Can’t even argue with him anymore, his set of facts and mine are vastly different.

The Trump presidency has been very good, economically, for a lot of people, especially the wealthy.
Plenty of people will put on blinders for just that fact.

it is scary. We’ve become so used to getting our information from “trusted sources” that people have lost the ability to think critically about politics. I t’ s worse than a lack of credible information to make an informed decision it’ s a glut of information that has no way to verify credibility at all. We truly live in a world where if a lie is told enough it’ s now the truth. THAT’ S NOT HOW TRUTH WORKS!
The trouble is that sometimes the good is mixed with the bad and vise versa. Every now an again you will get someone on Fox who asks the hard questions and on the other side of the coin the late night hosts who mix in truth with so much hyperbole and embellishment that it leaves very little room for reality.
its a dumpster fire of amazing proportions.

I think his base is going to realize (if the democrats are smart about it in their campaigning ) that the trump tax cuts phase out and come out worse for them in the long run. this tax year should start yielding some of that head scratching fruit.

The whole damn thing is depressing as hell. My B.I.L is also a Trump supporter (he also is in Jersey) , he actually blames the Democrats for his taxes going up because he can’t deduct all his property taxes off his federal taxes anymore. Apart from actually physically beating him every time he talks about Trump I’m at a loss on how to get through to him.

How does it come out worse? It just reverts back to the prior rates, with almost a decade of lower taxes in between.

So...the democrats aren’t responsible for the high taxes in New Jersey?

because the deductions don’t come back and the way they measure inflation is way less generous.

They sure as shit aren’t responsible for the $10000 property tax deduction cap on your federal tax returns. Last I checked Christie didn’t lower any taxes during his 8 years in office so the Republicans were quiet happy with the taxes as they currently are. Although I suppose financially supporting the South does tend to get expensive.

Your kids can always be proud of their country. The P resident is just one person, in power for a very short time in the grand scheme of things. The wind may blow one way today, but it can change tomorrow. But the legacy of great Americans, from the founding fathers to today, is indelible.

I know, it’s just
hard for me
to feel anything close to pride with
respect to
90% of
our representatives
in Washington
right now... I just turned 42, and it just seems worse than at any time I’ve been alive (maybe
I’m just paying more attention now...).
I am proud to be an American, despite the stains of our past and current failures, and I’m thankful for the freedoms we have. Our ideals are worth fighting for. I firmly believe that most Americans are people I’d be happy to share a meal and a conversation with, and proud to call fellow citizens.
I’m hopeful for a change soon that will lead to move civil discourse
, but I’m not very optimistic.

Deductions do come back, at least for individuals/households though some of the business ones don’t.
https://taxfoundation.org/look-ahead-expiring-tax-provisions/
The individual income tax code is effectively scheduled to return to what it was before the TCJA, meaning personal exemptions, the overall limitation on itemized deductions, uncapped state and local tax deductions, and many other miscellaneous itemized deductions will return. Despite most of the individual income tax code returning to its pre-TCJA structure, inflation adjustments will continue to be determi ned by the Chained Consumer Price Index (C-CPI)
And considering 80% of people got a tax cut, of course most will see a tax increase when these revert back , if they’re not extended.
